All week was dreaming about hot apple cider but without the energy to make one from scratch. So I came up with this lazy recipe, let me know what do you think.
Ingredients:
5 Cups apple cider (please buy a good brand)
3 teaspoon of dry lavender (English culinary lavender is preferred)
5-6 whole cloves or 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 Cinnamon sticks
Note: It's important to use English culinary lavender for the best result. You can find our English culinary lavender pack under this link.
Fresh lavender can be used as well, but be aware that fresh is not as potent as dried.
What to do:
1. In a small to medium size pot, combine 3 cups of apple cider with the lavender, whole cloves, ground nutmeg, and cinnamon sticks, mix and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat, and keep warm.
2. Before serving, strain cider mixture to remove cloves, lavender, etc. Serve hot.
Tips:
You can always taste the mixture and modify it for your liking. I noticed that 1 extra teaspoon of lavender will enhance the floral flavor.
Add 1/2 cup of dark rum if you are celebrating
